Plug-n-Drive has an Event Page - but it does not list Electric Avenue 2013 on the page.
http://plugndrive.ca/upcoming-events - so go to the blog for more info on that -

The Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) website - www.caa.ca - is also a source of Electric Vehicle Chargers - on their website. (http://www.caa.ca/evstations/) I will track the ones I can, and identify them on the PlugShare network - with a link to the CAA site with each one I copy over!

From the list above - you can pretty much see I brought over 14 Locations onto the PlugShare Network in the Ontario Area (Largely West of Toronto), Filling in a number of spots that needed additional units listed. There were also 8 new additions in the BC area, provided by their local sources.

If you want to drive your Electric Vehicle From Canada down to Florida (Or Any Vehicle - for that matter), if you don't have an International Drivers Permit (IDP), you may have some extra concerns beyond Range Anxiety.

International Driving Law

The state of Florida has passed into law a requirement for all non U.S residents, including all Canadians, to carry a valid International Driver’s Permit (IDP) when driving their own vehicle or a rental vehicle in Florida. See Florida Statute 322.04. See Points #1, & #2.

EV News:
In 1996 at the NESEA Tour de Sol, GM's EV-1 attained 125 miles per charge, Ford's EcoStar attained 235 miles per charge, and the Solectria Sunrise achieved 375 miles on one charge. That was with 1996 technology. (A Comment form the above GM Article)

The small Honda Fit EV, with its EPA combined city/highway estimated driving range rating of 82-miles, of late has only been available for lease in California and Oregon. CAA EV Charging Station Locator - Information

If you have the time and want to look beyond using www.plugshare.com for charging site - there could well be some additional ones on the CAA EV Charging Station Locator site as well.

I am told that many have been added there - but they are not yet on the PlugShare Website (for some reason), but I am hoping to convince them to share them on www.plugshare.com as well.

I will track the ones I can, and identify them on the PlugShare network - with a link to the CAA site with each one I copy over! (http://www.caa.ca/evstations/)

This gives everyone access to that site as well! Enjoy!

PlugInCarolina - The Carolinas Voice for Plugin Vehicles

In my Previous post - I tallied the Plugshare additions - but also added a story referencing the Carolina's Electric Vehicle Readiness. It mentioned that Spartanburg has 12 EV Chargers - but only 2 were being shown on PlugShare. So - with a little research, we discover - PlugInCarolina - The Carolinas Voice for Plugin Vehicles.

From there - we see that they have approximately 12 or so stations in the City and area, and so I took down the Addresses:

  • 500 Ammons Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29306
  • Spartanburg Public Works, 801 Union St, Spartanburg, SC 29302
  • 2 Charging Stations: 366 N Church St, Spartanburg, SC 29303
  • 2 Charging Stations: 299 N Church St, Spartanburg, SC 29306
  • Spartanburg Municipal Garage 130 E St John St., Spartanburg, SC 29306
  • Spartanburg Municipal Garage 100 Dunbar St. (Garage), Spartanburg, SC 29306
  • 111 Magnolia St, Spartanburg, SC 29306
  • 201 W St John St, Spartanburg, SC 29306
  • Spartanburg City Hall 177 W Broad St, Spartanburg, SC 29306
  • 2 Charging Stations: 160 E Kennedy St, Spartanburg, SC 29306
It would be great if my viewers from Spartanburg - could verify these locations - and add them to the PlugShare Network. Check the ChargeUp link for others, too!
